Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the workability and productivity of grid body casting for lead storage batteries by making primary coating of metallic materials or nonmetallic materials of heat resistance in surface treatment of coating mold release agent on the surface of the mold.
CONSTITUTION: Materials of molybdenum, ceramic, tungsten carbide or the like which are relatively heat-nonconductive and have good abrasion resistance are melt sprayed to about 1W5μm thicknesses on the surface of a lead storage battery grid body mold having been completed of engraving, whereby primary coating is applied. Thence, secondary coating of cork or fluorine resin is applied to form a layer of mold release agent. This mold release agent does not easily fatigue and peeling owing to thermal effect and mechanical impact, and the life of the secondary coating is made such that it withstands the use of more than about 24W36 hours continuously.
