Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate necessity of placing the first position sensor on the fixed groove face side by obtaining positional information of the work for the groove face through approaching a work from a prescribed position apart from the work.
CONSTITUTION: The welding point of a torch 109 is moved from a point Pa above a work W in the - direction of Z axis to the point close to the surface F1, and the information of the detected position Pb is stored in a computer. Then, the torch is returned to the point Pa and, at the same time, the work W is moved in the + direction of X axis by ΔXa. The torch is again moved to approach the surface F2 and information of the detected position information Pc is stored. Then, the position P0 of intersection of the surfaces F1, F2 is calculated by operation with previously given angles of inclination α1, β1 of the surfaces F1, F2. The welding point of the torch 109 is controlled to the position of the point P0. After this, positions P1, P2, P3 and so on are detected in prescribed order, and the position Pf of the welding line is operated.
