Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize a high-accuracy detection for the bubbles in the conduit regardless of the bubbles's position, by extracting the change of the acoustic impedance caused by the bubble passing within the sound field in the form of the change of the electric impedance.
CONSTITUTION: The breathing vibration is given to the liquid flowing in conduit 1 by ultrasonic oscillator 2, and thus the sound field which becomes uniform in any direction on the cross section of conduit 1 is formed. In case some bubbles are contained into the liquid in conduit 1, the acoustic impedance changes within the sound field. Accordingly, the electric impedance of oscillator 2 itself changes, and this change component is detected. As the sound field is uniform, no fluctuation is caused to the detecting accuracy although the bubble's passing position may vary. As a result, this change is given to impedance measuring circuit 4 formed with the bridge of oscillator 2 used for one side, and the output of circuit 4 is made to pass through amplifier 5. And only the change component is extracted through detecting circuit 6 and then recorded by recorder 8 and via amplifier 7.
