Abstract
PURPOSE: To obviate the occurrence of inconvenience with the increase in MLSS by separating solid contained in sewage in the stage before entering a biochemical treatment process thereby effectively treating the same.
CONSTITUTION: Sewage part a coarse mesh screen 1 receives separation of small solids by a fine mesh screen 2, and is introduced into an aerating tank 3 for the purpose of biological treatment. The liquid having received aeration is supplied to a settling tank 4, and part of the activated sludge having been settled and separated is returned as return sludge into the aerating tank 3. The remainder is sent together with screenings to a screenings treatment tank 5 through a pipe 14. In a settling chamber 15, the settling and separating of the solids contained in the liquid shifted from the pipe 14 are accomplished and the separated solids settle in an anaerobic digesting chamber 16 through the opening provided at the bottom end of a cylindrical body 13. The supernatant produced in the settling chamber 15 is sent through a pipe 17 to the aerating tank 3. In this way, the load of biochemical treatment is considerably decreased and the treatment efficiency is improved.
