Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a low yield-ratio high-tension steel plate without using a valuable additive element by applying a continuous annealing treatment to a hot rolled plate of low-carbon steel containing a minor amount of Al or further Ca under a specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: A steel ingot containing: C; 0.03W0.10wt%, Mn; 1.20W2.0%, Si<0.30%, Al; 0.010W0.10%, or further Ca; 0.0010W0.0050% is hot rolled at a temperature over Ar3 transformation point to produce a steel plate. The steel plate is wound into coil at 500W600°C. The steel is then soaked at the temperature range of Ac3WAc3+50°C to produce uniform austenite grain structure. Immediately thereafter, the steel is rapidly cooled at a rate of 40W70°C/sec to a temperature just below Ar1 modification point, then gradually cooled by air to about 550°C, causing the remaining austenite to be transformed into martensite structure.
