Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the watching of lateral visual fields easy by installing an objective lens system in the target visual field direction and leading the image thus obtained to the position where it is readily visible from the driver, by means of plastic- base optical fibers.
CONSTITUTION: A multiplicity of optical fibers 1 are so disposed that the respective fibers oppose accurately positionally at both end faces. They are fixed to each other at both end faces by means of an adhesive agent, and if necessary, mouthpieces 2 are fixed to both ends and they are further polished. Also, they are coated with a protecting material 3. A lens-barrel 7 housing an objective lens system is mounted to the window of the assistant driver's seat by means of a mounting fitting 8, and is directed to a lateral visual field direction. Here, the optical fibers 1 are so fixed by way of the mouthpieces 2 that the end face of the optical fiber bundle comes to the focal position of the objective lens system. A lens-barrel 10 fixed with a Fresnel magnifying lens 9 is mounted to the other end of this optical fiber bundle 1 to provide an eyepiece system which is then fixed by means of a fitting 11. In this way, the watching of the lateral visual field may be done effectively and easily.
