Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an age-hardening flute material consisting of a predetermined percentage each of Pd, Ag, Cu and Pt and having low specific gravity, ≥Hv 250 high hardness contributing to a fine tone quality and superior workability.
CONSTITUTION: This age-hardening flute material consists of 40W50w/o Pd, 35W 45w/o Ag, 10W20w/o Cu and 0.3W1w/o Pt. It is about equal to conventional Ag- 7.5w/o Cu or Ag-10w/o Cu in specific gravity and has superior workability. By coating the outer surface of the material with an Au layer, the corrosion resistance is enhanced, and a gold color can be given.
