Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the stability of battery voltage as well as increase the discharge performance, by adding Ag2O, HgO and graphite to the positive mixture whose main component in MnO2. CONSTITUTION:A positive mixture 2, a separator 3, an electrolyte impregnant 4, and a negative electrode 5 made of zinc powder are placed in a nickel-plated positive can 1 made of iron. Next, a sealing ring 7 is interposed between the positive can 1 and a sealing plate 6, which is placed on the negative electrode 5, to hermetically seal the battery, and the whole constitutes a button-type battery. The positive mixture 2 of such a battery is made of MnO2 as a main component, which is added with Ag2O, HgO and a conductive material to make a mixture. For instance, an electrolytic manganese dioxide having a grain-diameter of 30-250mum is added with Ag2O and HgO each of which has an adjusted grain-diameter of below 60mum, and a graphite powder having an average grain-diameter of 3-5mum. The proportions of MnO2, Ag2O and HgO are preferred to be 45-75wt%, 5-20wt% and 5-50wt%, respectively.
