Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a gas for furnace air stably, by bringing a gas to be purified into contact with vapor of an alkaline earth metal so that impurities in the gas are converted into metallic oxides cooling the metallic oxides which are removed.
CONSTITUTION: The metal melting pot A with its periphery surrounded by the heat-resistant wall 5 with the heater 2, sealed by the cover 4, is charged with the alkaline earth metal 4, e.g., Mg, Ca, etc. and the metal 3 is heated by the heater 2 so that its vapor is produced. A gas to be purified having about four nine is fed from the blow-off pipe 1 to the pot A, and the gas and the vapor of metal element are introduced from the conduit 6 into the reaction pot B surrounded by the heat- resistant wall 9 with the heater 7.
