NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound of formula I [G is OH, etc.; R1, R2 and R4 are alkyl, aromatic group, etc.; R3 is H, alkyl, etc.; R5 is alkyl, alkoxy, etc.; n is 0, 1 or 2; Q1 is H, halogen, sulfamoyl, etc.; Q2 is OH, etc.; Y1a is ≥2C alkylene; Y2a is alkyl, etc.; m and q are 0 or 1; J is SO2 or CO; Z is H, alkyl, etc.; X is -A1-(L)l-(A2)p-; G1 is OH, etc.].
USE: A dye-releasing redox compound for a sensitized material for color photography. It has high dye-releasing efficiency, and gives residual dye image of low residual yellow color in the photosensitive element after dye-release.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared by condensing a sulfonyl halide of an azo dye of formula II with an o-aminophenol derivative of formula III.
