Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled copolymer having excellent rigidity, heat resistance, etc., and extremely excellent impact strength at low temperature, by polymerizing propylene and ethylene in four steps, in the presence of a stereoregular catalyst under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: The objective copolymer containing 3W60mol% of ethylene and composed of (A) 0.1W60wt% of polypropylene segment having an isotactic index of ≥90, (B) 3W80wt% of copolymer segment containing 0.5W15mol% of ethylene, (C) 3W40wt% of a copolymer segment containing 15W90mol% of ethylene, and (D) 1W40wt% of a polymer segment containing 90W100mol% of ethylene, is prepared by (1) polymerizing propylene in the presence of a stereoregular catalyst such as Ti, and (2) carrying out the copolymerization in three steps under specific ethylene content. The preparation of the segments is pref. carried out in the order of A-B-C-D.
