Abstract
PURPOSE: To make compact the structure of the wind power turbine which is equipped with a nacelle designed to be movable freely toward the wind direction and an impeller supported in freely rotatable manner at the back of said nacelle, by selecting the diameter of said impeller and that of the boss to be in a particular relationship to each other.
CONSTITUTION: The downstream type wind power turbine is composed of the nacelle 2 supported in freely rotatable manner at the top of a post 1, an impeller supporting boss 5 supported by the nacelle 2 in freely rotatable manner, and a hydraulic pump 3 placed in the nacelle body. A plurality of blades 6 are fixed to the boss 5. Here, the nacelle 2 is shaped such that its rear end has the maximum diameter or is located at a diameter-increasing region, and the diameter (d) of boss 5 is made substantially equal to that of nacelle 2 at its rear end. Further, diameter D of the impeller is selected to be smaller than twice the diameter (d) the boss 5. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to increase the output of a wind power turbine since accelerated wind can be utilized as efficiently as possible and thus to make its structure compact.
