Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the acceleration performance by comprising a negative pressure introducing passage leading to a negative pressure chamber of a variable venturi type carburetor, of a main passage whose opening degree is controlled corresponding to the ascending position of a piston valve, and a leakage passage, thereby decreasing the ascending/descending speed of the piston valve in a certain opening range of the main passage.
CONSTITUTION: At the starting of the engine operation, if a throttle valve 14 is opened, a negative pressure produced in the venturi part is immediately transmitted through the main passsge 9 and the leakage passage 12 to the negative pressure chamber 5, so that the piston valve 2 lifts rapidly only for a short distance. Said lifting of the piston valve 2 closes the main passage 9. Therefore, even in the case when the throttle valve 14 is further opened, an increased venturi negative pressure acts on the negative pressure chamber 5 only through the leakage passage 12, decreasing the lifting speed of the piston valve 2. After that, when the piston valve 2 is opened further to one-third opening degree, a pin 6a and the bent part of a leading groove 7a cooperate to turn slightly a cylinder 7. Thus, the valve member 10 is tilted so as to open the main passage 9, thereby raising the piston valve 2 rapidly.
