Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily improve the vertical deflection sensitivity of a deflector and its focus quality, by providing horizontal and vertical deflection coils, such as barrel or pin cushion type coils, whose magnetic field distributions vary from the electron gun side toward the screen side. CONSTITUTION:Where axes X, Y, Z represent respectively the horizontal, vertical and deflection axes at the electronside end portions AA', middle portions BB' and screen-side end portions CC' of an axially split, truncated, conical core 41, coil- positioning guide means made of a plastics material or the like and having a rugged portion is provided in the vicinity of each of the portions AA', BB', and CC' so as to wind a coil 42 on the core 41 in such a way that, supposing the coiling angle for making the vertical magnetic field of the coil 42 be uniform is theta (about 30 deg.), the coiling angles theta1, theta2 and theta3 respectively at the portions AA', BB' and CC' satisfy the following relationship: theta1<theta, theta2>theta, and theta3<theta. To make the magnetic field distribution of the coil 42, it is wound up into, for example, barrel-type or pin cushion-type. Especially, the coil 42 is made closer to the pin cushion-type at the horizontal magnetic field and the barrel-type at the vertical magnetic field. In the above constitution, the vertical deflection sensitivity and focus quality have been improved.
