Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to decide a fault position rapidly in a communication device by inputting diagnostic information through the predetermined switch operation of a transmission-line communication device and by generating the diagnostic instruction and diagnostic data by decoding the information by the communication device. CONSTITUTION:To transmission lines connected in a closed loop, many transmission-line communication devices 3 are connected and through repeater 17 of each device 3, signals to and from transmission lines 1 and 2 are inputted and outputted to perform the level conversion of transmitted signals, extraction of clock components, etc. Control part 16 connected to repeater 17 performs the transmission sequence and supervises transmission lines 1 and 2. Further, the state display, test or diagnosis operation of control part 16 is indicated from console panel 15. Then when the diagnostic instruction switch and diagnostic data switch of console panel 15 are set at predetermined positions and the diagnostic command is inputted, control part 16 decodes the contents and generates the transmission-line diagnostic information according to the transmission format, thereby displaying the diagnostic result on the display unit of console panel 15.
