Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the suitability of a wire body to the working of housing grooves and the strength threreof by composing the body of a core wire such as a steel wire with high longitudinal elastic modulus and an outer layer of metal with low hardness.
CONSTITUTION: Wire body 1 is composed of core wire 4 such as steel wire with high longitudinal elastic modulus and outer layer 5 of copper or other material with low hardness and high workability. Grooves 6 housing fiber 2 are formed in the outside circumference of layer 5, and layer 5 is covered with coating 3. For the manufacture wire body 1 is passed through dies 8 to insert fibers 2 into through- holes 10 while forming groove 6 in outer layer 5, and fibers 2 are taken off with take-off device 12 together with body 1. Since grooves 6 are formed in layer 5 with low hardness, the working is easy. In addition high tensile strength can be given to the cable because the cable has core wire 4.
