Abstract

PURPOSE: To cool a gas turbine wheel or blades by means of a cooling medium delivered from the outside, by providing a cooling cover for the turbine wheel, thereby permitting a gas turbine to be driven by a high temperature gas without drilling holes through the turbine wheel in order to cool it.
CONSTITUTION: In a high temperature gas turbine, many blades 1 wherein a few cooling holes are formed are connected to the external periphery of a turbine wheel 7 and the turbine wheel 7 is secured to a shaft 8 which contains a cooling medium tube 5 in its hollow space. A cover 2 is aritightly tightened with a bolt 3 and a nut 4 to one end of the turbine wheel 7 in order to form a cooling medium path. The cooling medium path inside the cover 2 is shaped in such a fasion that its lower end and upper end are respectively communicated with a hollow space in the shaft 8 and a base part of the cooling holes of each blade 1, thereby effectively cooling the turbine wheel 7 and the blades 1.
