Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain titled compound useful for infectious diseases in urinary tracts due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc., by reacting a specific active ester compound as a reactant with a 6-aminopenicillanate.
CONSTITUTION: A dimethylaminohalogensmethyleneammonium halide of formula I (X and X' are halogens) is reacted with a monoester of a phenylalonic acid expressed by formula II (R is phenyl, etc.) to give an active ester of formula III, which is then reacted with a 6-aminopenicillanate to afford an α-substituted benzylpenicillin salt of formula IV (Me is monovalent alkali metal or alkaline earth metal).
EFFECT: The reaction can be carried out at a low temperature in a short time, using inexpensive raw materials. The method is industrially advantageous because of ready isolation of the aimed substance from the reaction mixture with little by-products.
