Abstract

PURPOSE:To remarkably reduce the operating time of an electromagnet by flowing a current through an inductor, storing electromagnetic energy in said inductor, and applying said energy to the electromagnet in consonance with the operation of a switch. CONSTITUTION:A switch 1 is normally closed, and a current flows from a power supply 4 to an inductor 2 via a switch 3. The current is denoted as i0. In order to open the electromagnet 1, the switch 3 is opened. Then, a large counter electromotive force is generated in the inductor 2. The current whose magnitude is approximately the same as the current i0 begins to flow in the electromagnet 1 by said counter electromotive force. At the same time, the attracting force is generated in the electromagnet 1 by the magnetomotive force caused by said current. By utilizing the electromagnetic energy stored in the inductor 2 in this way, the current can be quickly flowed in the electromagnet 1 having an inductance, the operation of the electromagnet can be remarkably improved.
