Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily obtain dehydrated γ-MnO2 useful as a depolarizer for a dry cell by dielectrically heating γ-MnO2 contg. bound water under conditions enough to allow the water to be lost without practically converting the γ-MnO2 into β-MnO2.
CONSTITUTION: Natural or chemically produced γ-MnO2 contg. bound water is dielectrically heated with an electronic oven or the like under conditions of temp. and time enough to allow the water to be lost without practically converting the γ-MnO2 into β-MnO2 to obtain dehydrated γ-MnO2 having surface dehydrated microporous which remarkably accelerate discharge reaction and increased activity for use in a cell. The enough conditions can be confirmed experimentally beforehand in accordance with the starting material used.
