Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the exchange reaction efficiency of hydrogen isotope by forming mists of treating water in a low temp. tower and by steam-vaporizing said treating water in a high temp. tower.
CONSTITUTION: Heavy water from a heavy water reactor is sent to a low temp. tower 3 through a pipe 42. In this low temp. tower 3, the treating water is formed into mists to carry out the isotope exchange reaction between the treating water and hydrogen gas in a catalyst layer and the heavy water containing tritium is taken out from a pipe 43 and heavy hydrogen from which a large amount of tritium is removed from a pipe 50. The heavy water containing tritium is steam-vaporized in a high temp. tower 20 to carry out the isotope exchange reaction in a catalyst layer and the heavy water from which tritium is removed is taken out from a pipe 44 and, moreover, tritium is similarily removed in a high temp. tower 41. Into the high temp. tower 41, the heavy hydrogen from which tritium is removed in the low temp. tower 40 is supplied from a pipe 61. The heavy water containing tritium is taken out from a pipe 47 to be stored.
