Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible the production of a catalyst which is free from crazing, peeling, etc. by dispersing inorganic materials or organic material fibers into a slurry containing catalyst materials, carrier materials or their precursors and immersing an inert base material therein at the producing of the coated type catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Fine particles of oxides of V, W, Cu, Mo, Fe, Cr, etc. as catalyst materials, compounds other than these as their precursors, titania, alumina and zirconia as their carrier materials and aluminum hydroxide, silica sol, etc. as their precursors are made into a slurry of about 20W600g/l concentrations. Further, organic and inorganic fibers such as "Teflon" fibers, asbestos, glass fibers are added at about 0.1W20pts. based on 100pts. of solids in the slurry, and further, a binder such as silica sol is added at 10W200pts. An inert base material of a ball or plate shape is immersed into this slurry, after which it is dried under ventialtion or dried by electromagnetic waves, whereby the entire part of the catalyst is dried uniformly. In this way, the catalyst free from crazing and peeling is obtained.
