Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an auxiliary electrode to absorb the hydrogen gas of a sealed assembled storage battery by connecting generation units, whose electrolytes are shielded from one another, in the air phase of the battery, and equipping the battery with the auxiliary electrode which is connected to the electrolyte of only one of the generation units. CONSTITUTION:A cell unit of a sealed assembled storage battery consists of a negative electrode 1, positive electrode 2 and a separator 3. Each of the cell units are placed in, for example, an insulating generation-unit container 4, and thus the electrolyte of each cell unit is shielded from those of the others. In addition to that, the cell units are connected to one another in the air phase of a battery, and one of the cell units is provided with an auxiliary electrode 8 for absorbing hydrogen gas; an electrolyte-holding sheet is placed between this cell unit and the auxiliary electrode 8. The hydrogen-gas-absorption auxiliary electrode 8 is connected to a positive electrode 12 by means of a resistance 7 and a diode 6, in that order.
