Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the deterioration of the adsorptive capability of the second tower, as used in a pressure-oscillating adsorption method, or the lowering of the concentration of unadsorbed components in product gas by a method in which after a concentration gradient is formed for unadsorbed components in the first tower and a constant pressure is reached in the tower, a product gas is discharged.
CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of oxygen-rich gas by removing nitrogen from air, for example, air is supplied through the valve 15 from the bottom of the tower when a given pressure is reached in the tower 10 in order to maintain the pressure of the tower, while a product gas is taken through the valve 11 out of the top of the tower. The product gas is flowed into the product tank 40 through the pipe 45 at first, but after the lapse of a given period of time, is sent to the top of the tower 20 by closing the valve 11 and by opening the valves 12 and 20. After the valves 24, 24', and 24" are orderly switched to the concentration gradient of oxygen which becomes smaller from the top toward the bottom in the tower 20, the valve 25 is opened to send air to the bottom in order to raise the pressure of the tower 20 to a given pressure. Then, the same operation is conducted at the towers 20 and 30, and the valve 17 is opened at the tower 10 to reduce the pressure of the tower to atmospheric pressure for the desorption and regeneration of adsorbent.
