Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the structure and characteristic of the surface part of a cast ingot and obtain the casting of superior quality by mounting an annular frame body to the upper part of a mold and blowing air or other gas thereinto. CONSTITUTION:An annular frame body 8 formed with an attaching part 8b for the top part of a mold 3 and a suspending part 8a to be dipped into a sump 7a in one piece is used. This annular frame body 8 is fixed by forming a space part 10 between the same and the mold 3; in addition, a gas supply pipe 11 is opened into this space part 10 to continuously forcedly feed a gas. Lubricating oil is continuously fed into an oil well 13 annularly provided aside from the inside cavity 5 to the upper part of the mold 3 and is continuously supplied at every suitable rate to the inside surface of the mold 3 through oil discharge holes 12. A float 14 is provided to the discharge port of a nozzle 2 to control the top surface of molten metal in such a manner that it is kept above the bottom end of the suspending part 8a. Under the above-mentioned conditions, a cast ingot 7 is drawn out from the mold 3 at a predetermined speed.
