Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a surface-treated steel material with excellent high corrosion resistance and anodizability by a method wherein a Zn-Ni alloy plated layer with a specific composition is formed as the first layer and Zn is applied thereon as the second layer by electroplating and a ratio of the thickness of the first layer and the thickness of the first layer against the total thickness is specified.
CONSTITUTION: A Zn-Ni alloy plating layer is applied to a steel material in a sulphate or a chloride bath, but the ion concn. of Ni and Zn in the bath is regulated so as to adjust a Ni amount in the obtained plated layer to about 2W20% (especially, 5W15%) on the wt% basis. The thickness of the plated layer is adjusted to 0.05μ or more (especially, 0.15W0.6μ). Subsequently, conventional Zn electroplating is applied by using a sulphate bath or the like. The thickness of thus formed first layer is adjusted to 1/5 or below (especially, 1/5W1/20) against a combined thickness of the first and the second layer.
