Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce greatly the number of the rejected characters; by compiling and then registering the features of the rejected character, which is decided impossible to read, into the dictionary functioning as the character deciding means.
CONSTITUTION: The character pattern of the recorded characters on the recording medium is extracted by an amount equivalent to one character. And whether the character is rejected or not is decided at the recognition part 13 and in reference to the dictionaries 14 and 15. And in case the character is decided as a rejected one, the rejected character is displayed on the CRT display unit 19. Thus the operator reads the rejected character and then performs a correction by operating the key. Then the operator decides whether the character has the possibility to be repeated or not. And in case the possibility of repetition is decided, the corrected character supplied via the key is supplied to the output control part 16. And at the same time, both the corrected character supplied via the key and the corresponding rejected character pattern are registered in the dictionary 15 with a correspondence secured between them.
