Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a D/A converter having a low accuracy, by applying the reference data to the D/A converter functioning as a local decorder to measure the accuracy and then storing the extent of compensation to be applied to each digit of the D/A converter. CONSTITUTION:The input analog signal (reference voltage for calibration) sampled and held is compared with the output of the D/A converter 3 functioning as a local decoder through the comparator 2, and then sent to the comparing register 4 successively. Thus an A/D converting action is given. At the same time, the comparing reference signal is obtained through the A/D converter 12 for calibration via other sample holding circuit 11 to be compared with the contents D of the comparing register 4 successively through the comparator 7. Thus the error component E is obtained. This result is stored in the memory circuit 10. And the contents of memory are added to the exclusive OR circuit 8 during the A/D conversion, and thus a compensation is given to the digital signal D.
