Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate of cephalosporin analogs, easily, economically, in short steps, by aminating a phosphonoacetate with a monohalogenoamine in the presence of a base.
CONSTITUTION: An α-aminophosphonoacetate or its salt is prepared by reacting a phosphonoacetate of formula I [R1 is lower alkyl; R2 is (substituted-)lower alkyl or aralkyl] with an amine of formula II (X is halogen) in a solvent such as ether, in the presence of a base such as an alkali metal. The molar ratios of the compound of formula I: the base: the compound of formula II are pref. 1:1:1.
