Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily prepare a thick cylinder or a hollow disc with high rate of fiber content by the filament winding method wherein a side plate is provided on a metal mold and fibers impregnated with a specified quantity of resin are wound on the surface of the metal mold and the side plate.
CONSTITUTION: Long fibers provided on a supply part 1 are impregnated with resin in an impregnation tank part 2 and are wound round a metal mold 4 through a traverse part 3. On the occasion, a method wherein the quantity of resin contained in fibers is adjusted by passing the fibers through dies, etc. in the route from the impregnation tank part 2 to the metal mold 4, or a method wherein the fibers impregnated with resin are wound up round a bobbin and, after the resin appearing on the surface being removed, they are provided on the supply part 1 and then wound round the metal mold 4 directly through the traverse part 3, or the like is adopted. By either of these methods, the resin content in fibers wound round the metal mold is adjusted to be 25W80 capacity %. When the resin content is less than 25 capacity %, voids are liable to be produced between layers, while the sliding of fibers can not be eliminated even with the side plate when the content is more than 80 capacity percent.
