Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the sesnsitivity, flexibility, etc. of the resulting electrophotographic receptor by forming a photosensitive layer contg. a specified monoazo pigment as an effective component on an electrically conductive support.
CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive layer contg. a monoazo pigment, as an effective component, represented by formula I (where X is benzene, naphthalene, carbazole, indole, benzofuran or the like; Ar is benzene, naphthalene, dibenzofuran, carbazole or the like; and R is H, lower alkyl or phenyl) is formed on an electrically conductive support to obtain the desired electrophotographic receptor. The monoazo pigment capable of acting as the effective component of the receptor can be selected from a wide range and includes monoazo pigments represented by formula II, III, IV.
