Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled cheap high Mn cast steel having superior characteristics by adding a large amount of Mn and blending an adequate amount of C and Cr.
CONSTITUTION: This high Mn cast steel consists of, 0.2W0.8wt% C, 02W1% Si, 17W30% Mn, 1W9.5% Cr, 0.005W0.1% sol. Al, ≤0.04% P, ≤0.05% N and the balance Fe, satisfying (30×C%)+Mn%+(0.5×Cr%)≥32%. One or more among ≤2.5% Mo, ≤0.5% Nb, ≤1% Ti and ≤1.5% V may be contained furthermore. This cast steel shows austenite single phase as cast, and stable superior low temp. toughness is obtd. at a super low temp. such as -196°C.
