Abstract

PURPOSE: To construct an artificial impermeable layer which, together with the cut- off wall, prevents the invasion of underground water and consequently facilitate such operations as excavation, anchorage and the like by laying refrigerating pipes horizontally.
CONSTITUTION: A shaft 1 having a given depth is excavated inside a concrete earth wall 5 on the periphery of the undergound tank body to be constructed. An operation room is provided at a given position of the end of the shaft 1, and boring is performed horizontally and radially from the operation room to a given position to insert a refrigerating pipe 2 into each bored hole. Said pipes 2 are connected to a refrigerating plant 10 to circulate brine in order to horizontally construct a planely continuous artificial impermeable layer 3, which, together with the cut-off wall, prevents the invasion of underground water. Consequently the need for pumping underground water is eliminated.
