NEW MATERIAL:A β-carboxyethylsilicon (germanium) sesquioxide of formula I (x is 0.05W1.00).
EXAMPLE: The compound of formula II.
USE: Carcinostatic agent and remedy for hypertension. The storage stability and thermal stability of the compound are higher than those of β-carboxyethylgermanium sesquioxide of formula III.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared, e.g. by hydrolyzing a mixture of β-cyanoethyltrichlorosilane and β-cyanoethyltrichlorogermane, if necessary in the presence of a basic catalyst, or by mixing β-carboxyethyltrichlorosilane and β- carboxyethyltrichlorogermane in an organic solvent, and hydrolyzing the mixture.
