Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the manufacture of an element by a method wherein a plurality of polygonal or circular penetrating holes are bored on a rod type or plate type piezoelectric material, electrodes are installed on the vertical surface of both ends of these holes, the piezoelectric material is polarized to the direction parallel to the holes and then a compound consisted of magnetostriction material powder and resin is filled in the holes. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous ethylene glycol solution of ammonium alginate is added to calcined powder of magnesium and lead niobate titanate zirconate. After it has been deaerated by a vacuum deaerator, it is molded by extrusion and a rod type or plate type piezoelectric ceramic 1 of a honeycomb structure, having a plurality of polygonal or circular penetrating holes, is obtained. Then, after it has been dried, an organic substance is removed by incineration and after sentering, an electrode 3, consisted of silver paste, is coated on the surface of both ends of ceramic 1 and it is polarized to the direction parallel to the holes. Then, a compound of magnetostriction material 2, consisted of Fe2O3, NiO and CoO, and epoxy resin is filled in the holes, and it is magnetized by giving a magnetic field after it is hardened.
