Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce titled emulsion having a uniform and small particle diameter and excellent standing stability and mechanical stability, by emulsifying a low-MW polydiene rubber in the presence of a specified emulsifier and a specified water- soluble polymer.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. Low-MW polydiene rubber, vinyl addition content ≤ 35%, MW 10,000W100,000, e.g., polyisoprene rubber, 0.5W10pts.wt. emulsifier which is polyoxyethylene alkyl (aryl) ether phosphate represented by formula I or II, wherein R is a C8W18 alkyl (aryl) and n is an average number of moles of ethylene oxide added and is 3W30, and 0.1W5pts.wt. maleic anhydride-derived functional group-containing water-soluble polymer, intrinsic viscosity 0.05W5, e.g., isobutylene/maleic anhydride copolymer, are mixed together, and the resulting mixture is emulsified by gradually adding water under agitation.
