Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure a radiation of a polarized wave over a wide band, by inserting a phase-shift slope composed of a dielectric substance in the direction of short axis of a horn antenna having a rectangular, oval and the like section and then providing a feeding part of a polarized wave having a polarized wave surface in the 45 deg.-direction to the long axis of the antenna. CONSTITUTION:A phase-shift slope 16 composed of a dielectric substance with a thickness (t) and length (l) respectively is inserted into a pyramidal horn antenna 11 of a rectangular, oval and the like section with a length L and in parallel to the short axis of the antenna. With application of the polarized waves in the long and short axis directions from a polarized branching filter 13, a polarized wave is delivered by a function of the slope 16 at the aperture part and over a wide range of frequency with a delay of about 90 deg. given to the phase of the polarized wave in the short axis direction. When the polarized wave E10 having a 45 deg. polarized wave surface to the long axis is fed, the wave E10 is divided into a long axis direction polarized wave E11 and a short axis direction polarized wave E12. And the wave E12 is delayed at the aperture part by 90 deg. to the wave E11, and thus the synthetic wave is delivered in the form of a circular polarized wave. With a feed of a wave E20 having a polarized wave surface right-angled to the wave E10, a circular polarized wave having an adverse turning to the above-mentioned circular polarized wave is obtained. In such way, a circular polarized wave can be radiated over a wide band and with a simple device.
