Abstract
PURPOSE: To detect the relative displacement between the two distance sensors distributed in opposition to each other after a conversion into a reduced relative displacement, by putting in a wedge-shaped target member between the two sensors and then shifting in parallel one surface of the target member toward one of the two sensors to obtain the sum of the output voltage.
CONSTITUTION: A wedge-shaped target member 3 is put in between the housings 1 and 2 of distance sensors distributed in opposition to each other, and a surface 31 is set parallel to the housing 1. The impedance of coil 11 varies according to the distance between the surface 1 and the coil 11. Then the unbalanced voltage of an impedance bridge comprising the coils 11 and 12 plus resistances 13 and 14 is applied to the resistance 15. In the same way, the unbalanced voltage corresponding to the distance between the surface 32 and coil 21 is applied to the resistance 25. These two voltages are added together through an operational amplifier to be delivered 44. Then the target member 3 is shifted in parallel to the surface 31. As a result, the displacement of surface 32 to the housing 2 can be detected in the form of a relative displacement that is obtained by reducing the displacement between surfaces 31 and 32.
