Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a steel sheet coated with a Zn-Mg alloy by hot dipping and having superior corrosion resistance and workability by preplating the surfaces of a steel sheet with one or more among Sn, Ni, Cu, Co and Cr when the sheet is coated with Zn contg. Mg by hot dipping. CONSTITUTION:Prior to hot dipping, the surfaces of a steel sheet are preplated with one or more among Sn, Ni, Cu, Co and Cr by 5-1,000mg/m<2>. The sheet is then dipped in molten Zn contg. 0.1-2.0% Mg to manufacture a hot dipped steel sheet. The diffusion of iron is prevented by the preplating before the sheet enters the hot dipping bath, so inferior adhesion due to the growth of an Fe-Zn alloy layer in the absence of Al in the bath is prevented. The hot dipped steel sheet has superior workability and causes no probelm about work efficiency and appearance in spite of the bath composition contg. no Al.
