Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the eddy current loss at the end of an inside coil for a core type large capacity transformer by increasing the axial size of the inside coil larger than the axial size of the outside coil when the size between the inside coil and a core main leg is smaller than the size between the outside coil and a tank. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of flat type insulating conductors having a rectangular section are arranged in parallel around a core main leg 1 corresponding to the currents of the coils, an inside coil 12 wound in necessary turns corresponding to the voltage and an outside coil 13 having an axial length shorter than the inside coil 12 are coaxially arranged at the same centers of their axial heights, are clamped with clamps 4, and then container in a tank 5, thereby forming a transformer. The radial components of the leakage magnetic fluxes at the upper and the lower ends of the coils become approximately equal between the upper and the lower ends of the outside coil and between the upper and the lower ends of the inside coil, resulting in that the eddy current loss at the end of the inside coil is largely reduced. When the gap between the inside coil and the core is large, the inside coil is formed shorter than the outside coil.
