Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the heat resistance of an electrically conductive Al alloy contg. a small amount of Fe, Si, Zr, etc. without deteriorating the conductivity by subjecting the alloy to specified cold workings and heat treatments.
CONSTITUTION: A billet of an Al alloy contg. 0.05W0.20% Fe, 0.10W0.40% Si and 0.15W0.40% Zr or further contg. one or more among 0.005W0.50% Y, 0.005W 0.50% In and 0.005W0.80% Be is heated to 500°C and worked into a rough wire by hot extrusion. The wire is then cold drawn to an intermediate wire rod at ≥40% reduction ratio, and the rod is heat treated at 300W500°C for 4W100hr and cold drawn to the final wire rod at 30W80% reduction ratio. Thus, the heat resistance of the Al alloy wire rod is improved without deteriorating the electrical conductivity.
