Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a mold for large-sized precision castings having intricately shaped parts by combining the cope and drag manufactured by making use of an investment molding technique.
CONSTITUTION: A vane pattern 4a and a flue pattern 10a of flat bodies and side plate patterns 2b, 3b to be affixed to right and left plate-like metallic patterns 2a, 3a are beforehand manufactured by using investment casting pattern materials. A drag shell 11 is formed by an investment material in the pattern in which the patterns 2a, 3a and the above-mentioned investment casting patterns are suitably disposed and combined on a lower molding board 5. Then, after removal of the molding board 5, the investment casting patterns are dissipated and the patterns 2a, 3a are removed, thereby manufacturing a drag. On the other hand, a cope shell 16 is formed in the similar manner by using the combination patterns using a charging port pattern 14a and plural pieces of head patterns 13a manufactured by using metal or investment casting pattern materials and after removal of the molding board 12, the metallic patterns are removed or the investment casting patterns are dissipated, thereby manufacturing a cope. The drag and cope are combined to manufacture the mold for example, a nozzle ring.
