Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable color display by providing phsophor layers with luminous colors which differ periodically on every discharge area groups that link in the stretching direction of wire-type electrodes which are electrically coupled with the auxiliary electrode pieces of a face discharge type panel, on the inner wall of a cover member. CONSTITUTION:A wire type Y electrode 4 is formed on a glass substrate 1 and a wire type X electrode 6 is formed at a right angle with the Y electrode 4 through the first dielectric layer 5. A discharge gas space 3 is configured by applying the second dielectric layer 7 on the X electrode 6 and arranging cover glass 2. Besides, an auxiliary electrode 8 which is coupled with the Y electrode 4 from a viewpoint of capacity is arranged between the dielectrics 5 and 7 and a discharge area is formed between the auxiliary electrode 8 and X electrode 6. Then, two types of phosphor 11 and 12 for example which emit red and greenlight are alternately applied on the inner wall surface of a cover glass 2 in a stripe form in the stretching direction of the Y electrode 4. Thus color display with high resolution can be provided in the X electrode direction.
