Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:An N-( 2,6-disubstituted-4-pyridyl )-N'-phenylurea expressed by the formula [X and Y are F, Cl, Br, CN, CF3, OR (R is lower alkyl) or SR; Z is F, Cl, Br, H or alkyl; A is O or S; n is 1 or 2].
EXAMPLE: N-(2,6-Dichloro-4-pyridyl)-N'-phenylurea.
USE: A plant growth regulating agent, having cytokinin activities, e.g. promoting the plant cell division and differentiation, capable of preventing the flower shaking (unfruitfulness), promoting the fruiting of grapes, exhibiting the activity to increase the leaf yield, and particularly useful for horticultural farming, e.g. promoting the fruiting of cucumbers, yield increasing of grapes and shoot formation of totacco, etc.
PROCESS: The corresponding 2,6-disubstituted isonicotinic acid derivative as a raw material is used to form an acid hydrazide, which is converted into an acid azide. The resultant acid azide is then reacted with the corresponding aniline to give the compound of the formula readily.
