PURPOSE:To prevent pickup of carbon by using mold powder of <=3% carbon contents in casting of an extra low-carbon steel of <=50ppm carbon contents. CONSTITUTION:At the time of continuously casting molten steel of <=50ppm carbon contents, powder of 1-3% carbon contents is used as mold powder at the casting. Thereby, the increase in the carbon contents occuring in the pickup of carbon from the mold powder is prefectly prevented.
