CONSTITUTION:Solid scanning light photodetector 1 outputs analog signals according to the concentration of respective picture elements of an original when the reflected light from the illuminated original is image-focussed on the light receiving surface through a lens. When supposing that D1 is a threshold of black and D2 is that of gray, for example, video amplifier discriminator 2 amplifies the analog signal outputted from element 1 and makes the amplified signal a binary signal by discriminating the signal with prearranged level D1 or D2. Thus, the picture information of (n+1) gradations can be transmitted by reading the binary information of ''0'' and ''1'' by (n) times.
