Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the sticking of nonmagnetic carrierless toner to a photoreceptor latent image, by applying an AC voltage to a developing roller. CONSTITUTION:The 1st carrier roller 15, the 2nd carrier roller 16 and developing roller 13 of developing device 10 are in slide contact and rotated as shown by arrow (u) while generating friction; the 2nd carrier roller is applied with a voltage of about 150V by DC power source 18, and the developing roller with a superposed voltage of about 200V by AC power source 20. Toner is supplied by the 1st and 2nd carrier rollers from a toner supplier to the developing roller while charged by friction. The developing roller, applied with the AC voltage, vibrates the toner to accelerate the frictional charge and the toner is made easy to come off the roller. The carrier rollers consist of electrically conductive fur brushes, and the developing roller may have either the electrically conductive fur brush or a lubricious surface.
