Abstract
PURPOSE: To lower the cost of a heater coil and to increase its durability, by manufacturing a heater coil from a material obtained by dispersing a heat-resisting metal oxide or oxides having particular grain diameters uniformly in metallic nickel.
CONSTITUTION: A heater coil of a preheating plug is manufactured from a material obtained by dispersing powder of at least one metal oxide of the metal selected from the groups IIA, IIIA, IIIB, IVA and IVB of the periodic table having an average grain diameter of 0.1W8μ and forming no solid solution in contact with nickel, at the rate of 0.05W5vol%, in nickel powder having an average grain diameter of 0.1W8μ by way of the powder metallurgical method. Here, it is preferable to use MgO, Al2O3, SiO2, ThO2, BeO or ZrO2 as the powder of the above-mentioned metal oxide.
