Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide for driving of a car by itself even upon failure of a fuel injection valve and so on by providing a fuel supply apparatus of the car with means for detecting a failure of operation of the fuel injection valve and fuel supply means which operate upon failure of the fuel injection valve.
CONSTITUTION: When fuel particles 18 are injected from a nozzle 17 of a fuel injection valve 5 which is opened to the downstream of a primary side throttle valve 3 of an air supply tube 1, light generated at a light emitting element 35 is absorbed and reflected irregularly thereby so that the amount of light detected by a light receiving element 36 is reduced. A failure of the fuel injection valve 5 is judged at an electronic controller 20 depending upon an output of the light receiving element 36. When the controller 20 judges a failure of the fuel injection valve 5, a magnet valve 47 is opened so that fuel in a fuel passage 50 is admitted into the air supply tube 1 by the negative pressure in a Venturi portion 19. By such construction, the car is enabled to drive by itself at least to a nearest maintenance shop even upon failure thereof.
