Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a display panel with superior appearance and characterstics by holding a liq. crystal between substrates under a pressure below atmospheric pressure and dispersing a gap material in the crystal to maintain the crystal for a desired thickness. CONSTITUTION:Gap material 26 equal to sealing member 23 in thickness and diameter is dispersed in the gap between substrates 21, 22 of the liq. crystal display panel, liq. crystal 24 is injected from injection hole 25 under a pressure below atmospheric pressure, and hole 25 is stopped up. Thus, the gap between substrates 21, 22 is kept uniform all over, and the resulting display panel has superior appearance and uniform electrical and optical characteristics. The diameter of particles of gap material 36 is, for instance, made larger from the left to the right in succession to linearly increase the thickness of liq. crystal 34 toward the right. Crystal 34 is injected under a pressure below atmospheric pressure and sealed 35. Thus, the optical characteristics are changed intentionally to vary the display contents.
